Hi Feebs!
Together we’ve made it happen! With almost 600 backers from all over the world, we Kickstarted Fibby. Your credit card has been charged and in the upcoming days, you will receive a backer survey via e-mail. Here we ask you to fill in your shipping address, in order for us to send your Fibby’s. Quite important ;-). Please keep an eye on your inbox. A reminder: shipping costs will be charged shortly before we ship Fibby out.
What have we been up to so far? You can read all about it below.
☑️ Certification
The most important thing we're waiting for is the final pre-production test results from TÜV Rheinland, who's certifying our Fibby swimming aid. The results are later than expected, due to an internal miscommunication at the TÜV office. Now Fibby is their top priority, and we’re expecting an update from TÜV at any moment.
As mentioned on our Kickstarter project page, we’ve designed Fibby in accordance with the NEN-EN 13138-1 standard requirement for swimming aids. During earlier conversations with TÜV Rheinland, no red flags were raised. So we don't expect any surprises now.
At this time, we do not expect this slight delay to impact the communicated project schedule.
📱App
In the meantime, our part-time CTO Harrie has been working hard on building the app. We’re finalizing the designs and requirements for version 1. Harrie is also setting up the technical foundation (called the back-end) for the services ‘running your account’ and ‘serve you the right videos at the right time, depending on your child's development. In the last months of this year, our plan is to invite you to test the app and share your feedback with us.
☕ Virtual cup of coffee?
While bringing Fibby into production, I'd love to learn what made you decide to pre-order Fibby. Also, I'm really curious about how you currently experience your time in & at the water with your kids. Would you like to have a short video call with me this week? It takes no longer than 15 minutes. Via this link, you can easily schedule a call at a time that suits us both. In the past few weeks, I have already e-meeted Adam from the Bahamas, Leonard from Hong Kong, and a couple of fellow Feebs from The Netherlands. I am really looking forward to meeting you too.
Short updates
- Early November we’re meeting up with the Dutch Don’t Drown Foundation (including Professor Joost Bierens) and Hogeschool Windesheim, to discuss a scientific study of Fibby and the methodology behind it.
- A couple of Dutch swimming pools decided to pre-order some Fibby’s and offer the lessons in their regular programs to children between the ages of 2-4 years, the phase before swimming classes start.

It’s been an amazing summer so far! Since our launch in July 594 Feebs from all over the world joined us in our mission to am-Fibby-fy humanity. Thanks a million for joining us and for your support!
We can’t wait for the upcoming months in which our Fibby swimming aid goes into production. The app will be built, together with the Dutch Don’t Drown Foundation we will submit a proposal of a scientific study of Fibby and our water-safety methodology, and many, many more.
We’ll invite everyone to become part of these exciting developments: just read our updates, be more involved by giving feedback, or become a part of the design process. It’s all up to you.
So what’s next?
Since a lot of you have never backed a Kickstarter campaign before, here’s a brief summary of what you can expect from us now the campaign is ended:
- Your credit card is already charged or will be in the upcoming days by Kickstarter
- After 2-4 weeks, we will send you a survey in which we can share your shipping details. You can find more about surveys in the Kickstarter support section.

Time flies: We’re already in our last week - help us reach 600 backers!

What a ride it has been so far, Feebs! Together with Feebs from all over the world, we brought Fibby to life. We can’t wait for the moment you’ll jump in the water with your children with Fibby for the first time, and playfully teach them to become water safe.
In the past few weeks, Fibby and our joint effort on Kickstarter have been well received by the Dutch media. A personal highlight for me was when backer Stan (👋 Hi Stan!) came up to me to ask me if I was Hugo from Fibby while I was on holiday with my family in France
It’s amazing to see Fibby grow! Meeting people like Stan definitely tastes like more! My team and I are really looking forward to inviting and interacting with you when building the Fibby App.

But first things first, Feebs. Every day, (grand) parents and fans from all over the world are joining our Kickstarter campaign. We just can’t describe how much energy your support gives us.

It’s fan-tas-tic Feebs!
We’re almost welcoming the 500th backer of our Kickstarter campaign! Feebs from all over the world have joined us so far. Thank you all: you are amazing!
With Fibby we’re on a mission to enable each parent to playfully teach their children aged 2 and up the fundamentals to save themselves after a fall into the water, by making fun.
The fact that we have kickstarted Fibby, the tilting swimming aid with water safety method, developed with the Dutch Don’t Drown Foundation, has not gone unnoticed in the Netherlands. In this 'land of water', swimming lessons are seen as a necessity.
Below you see me explaining how Fibby works on Dutch TV, with great demonstrations by test-feeb Mik, his father Danny and, of course, my son’s Mees & Jip.

In addition, Fibby was mentioned on RTV Rijnmond: online, on the radio and on television. RTV Rijnmond is the local news station of our hometown Rotterdam.
And last but not least, Fibby was highlighted online by the Libelle, a Dutch weekly women’s magazine.
It’s insane Feebs! This is a confirmation of the revolution we started together, making children water safe much faster around the world. A journey we started here on Kickstarter. With you!

Last night we launched Fibby on Kickstarter and now we are 9% away from our minimum funding goal. AMAZING!
Thank you so much for joining us! Kickstarter also marked Fibby as a ‘Project we love’. They are so right! We are in love with Fibby, too.
